Madrid, November 10, 2021 – Las Rozas Innova, the municipal company of Las Rozas Innovation, is developing a Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (PMUS) that will update the existing one, from 2009. It is a strategic document and a new mobility management framework with an action plan to implement in Las Rozas a sustainable, connected, multimodal and safe mobility model adapted to the needs of the city.
The new Las Rozas Mobility Plan is based on a thorough and updated diagnosis of the city’s transport needs. To this end, Las Rozas Innova is carrying out a diagnosis of the current situation, with a detailed analysis of the areas that make up the mobility of people who live and come to Las Rozas, whether pedestrians, cyclists, drivers or public transport users.

In addition, the new SUMP will have an Action Plan with specific short, medium and long term measures based on the promotion of multimodality, active mobility and the promotion of a more sustainable and accessible mobility.
For the drafting of the new SUMP, Las Rozas Innova has compiled all existing studies in the City Council and other competent administrations, such as the Regional Transport Consortium or the National Institute of Statistics. Likewise, it has carried out several field works to collect data on the traffic network, mobility flows, parking, etc.

Participation, a key element. Las Rozas Innova has also carried out two surveys in the city: the first was conducted in June to obtain data, opinions and suggestions on last-mile travel in the city. The results of this survey have provided information on the last stretch that people make in their usual journeys, such as the stretch between public transport and the workplace or their home.
The second survey was carried out between September and October among citizens and regular visitors to Las Rozas to find out the levels of satisfaction, suggestions and opinions of pedestrians, drivers, cyclists and public transport users. More than 1,200 people participated in this second survey open to citizens and visitors. Fifty-four percent of the people who participated in the survey were women; the most participative age group was between 40 and 65 years of age.
In addition to the surveys, last September, Las Rozas Innova organized the “Mobility Challenge”, a working day for the analysis of the challenges and the search for solutions in which mobility experts, municipal representatives of the commercial and business fabric, associations, universities, educational centers, public and private companies in the field of mobility and residents of Las Rozas participated. From this “Mobility Challenge”, Las Rozas Innova obtained an in-depth analysis of the challenges and proposed solutions in three areas: multimodality, micro-mobility and mobility to work.
Through this strategy, based on the analysis and technical study of the city’s needs, Las Rozas Innova is preparing an updated SUMP that will be available in the coming months.
