Hackatones & Challenges

Through open innovation initiatives, we promote and encourage the connection between the different innovative agents.

We identify and make visible the challenges of the city and connect them with the national and international innovative ecosystem for the collaborative search of solutions that solve the needs of our daily life.

Las Rozas Innova Blockchain Challenge

Las Rozas Innova and Alastria identified blockchain solutions applicable to 3 fields of cities and award them with €15,000:

  • Smart City
  • Sustainable Energy
  • E-Government

Hackathon Blockchain Las Rozas

In July 2021 we celebrate the I Blockchain Hackathon of Las Rozas, together with Alastria: another step in the path initiated in February this year with the signing of a partnership agreement with Alastria Blockchain Ecosystem to turn Las Rozas into a testing laboratory for blockchain solutions, for the application of this futuristic technology in the city and to scale it to other cities in the world. 26 companies from 4 different countries applied for an open call. Only 10 of these reached the final, which allowed us to identify the Blockchain Interesting Project, the BIPs of Las Rozas:

SolarMente [ €9,000 first prize winner] This startup has developed a solution with blockchain technology that allows sharing the surplus of clean energy among the neighbors of a community, saving up to 50% of the electricity bill and reducing the carbon footprint.

GoGreen [€4,000 second prize winner] Their mobility solution connects with small businesses and rewards sustainable travel.

Hackathon Reactiva Las Rozas

In February 2021 we held the I Hackathon #ReactivaLRZS. 11 teams with 39 participants competed to develop the best technological solutions to help the city overcome some of the consequences of the pandemic. Top companies such as Amazon Web Services, Impact Hub and Bridge for Billions joined as collaborating entities. The winning idea was the KEAY platform designed by three women engineers from Rocha to promote and facilitate cultural and leisure activities for children.
